Medical tourism: '5-star' care at up to a 90% discount

US Medical tourism: '5-star' care at a discount. US medical cartel monopolies are forcing lower middle class Americans to travel abroad to get medical treatment.

Imagine cartels would allow Indian, Mexican, Russian, Chinese, Korean good doctors, dentists, to compete, to practice in US, for up to 90% discount. That would be a free market, not medical corporate cartel communism...

if you're in that awkward middle, where you have a little money saved, current private medical insurance cartels scheme will take it all ........ Once a cottage industry, medical tourism may be on the cusp of a big expansion as governments from India to Singapore are investing in state-of-the-art hospitals, vying for a global market.

Deloitte Consulting estimated that 560,000 U.S. residents went abroad for care in 08. The firm thinks that number will rise to 1.6 million by 2012, with patients getting discounts of up to 90 % on procedures from liver transplants to hip resurfacing.

Toxic Chemical Diacetyl Still Finding Its Way Into Microwave Popcorn - Sphere News

Toxic Chemical Diacetyl Still Finding Its Way Into Microwave Popcorn, in the form of substitute. Destroys lungs.

Public health advocates told themselves that when Democrats took over the health and safety agencies, the Bush regulations-are-bad era would vaporize.

One measure was going to be how quickly the Obama team addressed something as well-researched as diacetyl.

BPA Tied to Impotence in Men, PVC.

BPA Tied to Impotence in Men. Exposure to high levels of the controversial plastics chemical bisphenol A (BPA) significantly raised the risk of sexual dysfunction, including impotence and low sex drive, among Chinese factory workers. he researchers stressed that the workers were exposed to BPA levels about 50 times higher than what most Chinese or Americans would be exposed to in everyday life.

Even so, they said the study adds to a growing body of research that shows that the ubiquitous chemical may be harmful to humans.

BPA, used to make polycarbonate plastic (hard, clear plastic) and epoxy resin, is found in electronic and medical equipment, cars, sports safety equipment, and food and drink containers, including plastic bottles and the lining of cans.

"Most human exposure to BPA occurs when the chemical leaches into food and drink from packaging. Earlier this month, Consumer Reports announced that tests showed BPA in nearly all of 19 brand-name canned foods, including soups, juice, tuna and green beans.

In recent years, concern about the effects of BPA, particularly on fetuses and young children, have been growing. Animal studies have shown that BPA can cause reproductive abnormalities in both males and females by disrupting the endocrine system, according to background information in the study.

Other research has linked BPA to an increased risk of diabetes, cancer and heart arrhythmias. Male sexual dysfunction may be an early indicator of BPA-related problems that take longer to develop"

Cellphones Cause Brain Tumors, Says New Report. Great underestimation of brain tumor risks.

- There is a risk of brain tumors from cellphone use;
- Telecom funded studies underestimate the risk of brain tumors, and;
- Children have larger risks than adults for brain tumors.
This report, sent to government leaders and media today, details eleven design flaws of the 13-country, Telecom-funded Interphone study

The Interphone study, begun in 1999, was intended to determine the risks of brain tumors, but its full publication has been held up for years.

Components of this study published to date reveal what the authors call a 'systemic-skew', greatly underestimating brain tumor risk.
The cardinal design flaws include
--categorizing subjects who used portable phones (which emit the same microwave radiation as cellphones,) as 'unexposed';
--exclusion of many types of brain tumors;
--exclusion of people who had died, or were too ill to be interviewed, as a consequence of their brain tumor;
--and exclusion of children and young adults, who are more vulnerable.

Mercury can indeed pose a serious health threat to people who eat too much fish and seafood. But before you swear off sushi, consider the caveats.

"Fish, on balance, is recommended by doctors because it is high in protein and heart-healthy omega-3 fatty acids."
Mercury levels in fish are typically minute, and they vary among different types of fish. And unless you're eating catch from polluted waters, you usually have to eat an awful lot of fish for quite a while before showing signs of mercury poisoning.

Mercury levels in fish are typically minute, and they vary among different types of fish. And unless you're eating catch from polluted waters, you usually have to eat an awful lot of fish for quite a while before showing signs of mercury poisoning. ....

"For the vast majority of people, it's not a real issue, because the vast majority of people don't eat fish more than once a week" - "It's for those people that we call the high-end consumers that we're most concerned with. .....

Eating fish twice a day for 20 years. Medical experts say adults who eat that much seafood can indeed risk mercury poisoning. .... Mercury occurs naturally in the atmosphere and humans pump even more of it into the air through pollution. When it lands on lakes, rivers and oceans, mercury can be transformed by microorganisms into a more toxic form called methylmercury. That's the danger for seafood eaters.

Trace amounts of methylmercury can build up in fish and shellfish. And it can build up in the animals that eat those fish, including humans, who then can experience neurological problems.
Symptoms can include tingling sensations around fingertips, toes and lips, a lack of coordination, vision problems and trouble articulating words. In extreme cases, mercury poisoning can cripple, kill and cause birth defects.
Health officials are most concerned about the danger to developing brains and nervous systems and issue strict consumption recommendations for children, pregnant women and women of childbearing age. But all adults are advised to watch their seafood consumption.
The Institute of Medicine of the National Academies recommended several years ago that healthy adult men who consume more than two servings of seafood a week eat different varieties of fish to lessen risks of loading up on a single contaminant.
The rule of thumb is the lower on the food chain, the lower the mercury level. Salmon and flounder will tend to have lower levels than larger predators, such as shark and swordfish.

Eating sushi can be a concern because bluefin and other sushi-grade tuna tend to be bigger fish. But again, it's a matter of how much you eat. A piece of sushi could have less than half an ounce of tuna, according to Gochfeld. Eat a few pieces a week, there is likely no issue. Eat 20 pieces of sushi per meal multiple times a week, there could be a problems.
While people will sometimes point to the sushi-loving Japanese as proof of the food's safety, Gochfeld says that people in Japan consume a wide variety of seafood, including fish lower on the food chain, such as herring and sprat.

Former New York Mayor Ed Koch says he learned the risks of eating high-on-the-seafood chain several years ago when he started eating swordfish belly three or four times a week.
Koch showed no symptoms but had his blood tested as a precaution after being told of the potential dangers of mercury. The results: blood levels more than seven times normal.
The lesson here is moderation. People tend to get mercury poisoning through chronic exposure to small doses over long periods
It can take many months, but mercury levels in the body decrease over time. Koch, for instance, says it took about a year to get his levels down (he still eats swordfish, but only about once a month)

Mouthwash linked to cancer. Nejrozirenejsi klotadla mohou pusobit rakovinu ust. Meli by se stahnout z prodeje. Alkohol - etanol je na vine.

AUSTRALIA'S top-selling mouthwashes can cause oral cancer and should be pulled from supermarket shelves immediately.

Leading independent experts have issued this strong warning after investigating latest scientific evidence linking alcohol-containing mouthwashes to the deadly disease.

The ethanol in mouthwash is thought to allow cancer-causing substances to permeate the lining of the mouth more easily and cause harm.

Acetaldehyde, a toxic by-product of alcohol that may accumulate in the oral cavity when swished around the mouth, is also believed to be carcinogenic.

Smoking and alcohol consumption are well-established risk factors, but alcohol-containing mouthwash use is more controversial.

The review reported evidence from an international study of 3210 people which found daily mouthwash use was a "significant risk factor'' for head and neck cancer, irrespective of whether users also drank alcohol or smoked.

Pokud kourite, nekloktejte etanol obsahujicim klotkadlem..
But the effects of mouthwash were worst in smokers, who had a 9-fold increased risk of cancers of the oral cavity, pharynx and larynx.

Those who also drank alcohol had more than five times the risk - and even those who neither drank nor smoked still ran a four- to five-fold risk of contracting cancer.

A Brazilian study has also found regular mouthwash use is associated with oral cancer regardless of alcohol or tobacco consumption.

Prof McCullough said the most popular mouthwashes contained higher concentrations of alcohol than drinks such as wine or beer.

"If you have a glass of wine, you tend to swallow it,'' he said.
"With mouthwash, you have a higher level of alcohol and spend longer swishing it around your mouth.

Eating while drinking increased salivation, which lowered the risks, he said.
